July 2020, we take advantage of this tenth anniversary to give the floor to Christophe Moureaux, President of Cisteo MEDICAL:
I was an R&D manager at a manufacturer, the idea had been running through my head for a few years to create my company and seeing the R&D costs at a manufacturer, I thought it could be interesting to create an independent entity that offers this R&D service. The development of a DM requires resources at a given time, so the idea was to offer external services that meet this need to avoid manufacturers having to bear these personnel costs beyond development.
Manufacturing came from the fact that when we develop a device, we start from feasibility to industrialization with the implementation of manufacturing means. So in the logical continuity of development, we thus propose the manufacturing of DMs.
Today we are in line with what I initially envisaged, except for the number of people, we have reached the objective in 5 to 7 years, and today almost thirty people are part of the team.
At the start, we were mainly asked to work on products with less stakes, mainly on instrumentation, from class I to class II. Today, we are working on increasingly complex implantable devices with increasingly sophisticated processes.
In terms of turnover and thanks to the trust of our customers, we have managed to go from €145,000 to €1,650,000, i.e. a turnover multiplied by 10. The manufacturing activity has developed but we keep a high proportion of R&D activity, Cisteo MEDICAL remains an R&D entity.
In 10 years, we still see progress and our new building will participate in this evolution.
